Issues of Syrian-Armenians are still under consideration of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, which immediately responds to any question.
“If you are familiar with any Syrian-Armenian who is dissatisfied with the work of the Ministry, and if he raised a question and the employee did not respond immediately, I am ready to fire him.” said Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan.
According to her, the RA government has allocated 1.5 million dollar to solve Syrian problems. The minister noted that today there are about 5,000 people, more than 1,600 Syrian families in Armenia. Many changes have been done in Armenian law and government decisions to solve problems of Syrian-Armenians.
Mrs. Hakobyan said that 200 Syrian students applied in Armenian universities, more than 500 Syrian children are enrolled in kindergartens and schools, about 250 students are enrolled in the new schools with Syrian program.
According to the minister, one of the main problems is the issue of employment. 3000 Syrian-Armenians need a job. The Ministry is doing everything to solve the employment problem as quickly as possible.
The next task is to ensure Syrian-Armenians apartments. The majority of families, who applied to the Ministry (about 350 families) are living in rent, about 50 percent in friend’s house, another part have their own apartments.
As for the living conditions of Armenians, living in Syria, the ministry has a coordinating body that assesses their needs.
