Armenian “168 zham” daily had an interview with Laurens Boers, head of the British “Reconciliation Resources” Peace-Program in the Caucasus and director of Karabakhian department, concerning Safarov’s case and Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The journalist asked him to comment on Safarov’s case and Boers said:
“As you know I have already talked about the issue in my article titled “Armenia and Azerbaijan; What can do the society if the government makes a wrong step”. I can say once again that the action is wrong and it brought another huge tension between the countries, but I stress that negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan must continue. We should do everything in order to overcome this problem, even though it will be very hard,” said Boers.
To the question what should do the sides after Safarov’s case, since no negotiation has been organized after the issue? He responded:
“I know it is hard for Armenians to negotiate with Azerbaijan after such a problem, but there should be a solutrion. You see between Armenia and Turkey some negotiations are still going on, despite Hrant Dink’s death. We must do everything in order to continue the peaceful process.”
