Vazgen Manukyan, the president of National Democratic Movement, had an interview with Aravot, concerning Oskanian’s case.
“As you know I also lost my personal immunity but my case is not similar to Oskanian’s case. The only thing which is similar is that both of us are political workers and we lost our immunity and it was done under political motivations. Do you know why they did it? Since we won in the elections, we were majority, that’s why the authorities put pressure on us. What concerns Oskanian, I don’t want to criticize him but because of such financial problems many scandals always rise. I can bring you examples of other famous political leaders who were also criticized because of financial issues. For example Silvio Berlusconi (PM of Italy) was also criticized for financial problems.
It may happen with everybody. I think that Oskanian was wrong and he should have apologized for what he had done. If he stood and apologized in front of everybody I’m sure that such scandal wouldn’t have happened and he should only pay some money as a fine and everything would have been solved. What do you think could they imprison him? Of course not, they couldn’t have done it and such scandal wouldn’t rise.
