The President of the RA National Assembly on October 12 received members of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic of Italy-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, who represent the main incumbent factions.
RA Press and Mass Media Relations Department informed “First News and Analyses” that, welcoming the guests, the NA President stressed the importance of the Italian delegation’s visit and said that a new page will open in Italian-Armenian relations.
Touching upon the Armenian-Italian cooperation Hovik Abrahamyan noted that there are good prospects to develop bilateral relations in political, economic, cultural and other spheres.
The head of Italy-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Sandra Dzampa thanked for the invitation and highlighted the importance of such meetings to develop inter-state and inter-parliamentary relations.
Mrs. Dzampa appreciated the contribution of Armenians in the Italian and European culture, science, economy and other fields. “Now Europe must return to you what you have donated to Europe during too many years and to support the development of your country,” said the Italian deputy.
At the meeting they discussed issues related to the Armenian-Turkish relations, settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “Baku has made anti state propaganda, bringing it more dangerous level. This is not only our rating. Other international organizations also alarm about this. We stay attached to a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, “said Hovik Abrahamyan.
The NA President thanked the Italian delegation that the Italian Parliament rejected the viewpoints of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh. In response to it, Ms. Dzampa noted that the parliament has rejected the resolution of Azerbaijan because it did not reflect the viewpoint of Italy in the settlement and did not meet Italy’s position on the international level.
