The press office of the head of “Prosperous Armenia” party Gagik Tsarukyan issued a statement, which reads:
On October 10 the head of “Prosperous Armenia” party Gagik Tsarukyan received the U.S. Ambassador John Heffern. During the private conversation the U.S. official stressed the importance of the meeting with PAP leader. The two sides exchanged views on the country’s external and internal policies, a number of issues related to the economy. Referring to the immunity question of ex-NA MP PAP member Oskanian, John Heffernn stressed that he is very concerned about the incident and carefully follows all the developments. Ambassador said that this is a serious blow to judicial and democratic values.
American official is concerned about the fact that such operations are carried out in the period preceding the presidential election. During the meeting, Ambassador John Heffern expressed hope that Armenia’s authorities will ensure the rule of law in resolving this issue.
In his turn Tsarukyan noted. “Best lawyers study the case, who confirmed all baseless allegations against Oskanian. I personally have ordered faction members to act tough and present principled statements and speeches. ”
PAP leader stressed that he will be consistent, not to let the investigation be impartial and receive objective decision.
