No one forces Armenians to leave to Russia, they are going by their own will. It was stated by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Russia in Armenia Vyacheslav Kovalenko, answering the question, why brother country Russia does not close “Compatriots” program, which, many believe, contributes to the citizens of Armenia emigrate to Russia.
“Is someone dragging Armenians to Russia? Do you think if we close the representation, people will not go? Is the problem in the representation?” asked the ambassador, noting that the problem is not the representation of the Migration Service, but some other things.
“Why do people leave Armenia? They go, because they have objective reasons, and it certainly has nothing to do with the Federal Migration Service,” he said.
According to the diplomat, the migration service representation works to limit illegal migration. “No one makes Armenians to go to Russia. If we close the representation, migration will not stop. There are other reasons. I can say that more Armenian people left with the help of Green card, than by the representation of the Federal Migration Service. In 2007 more than 5,000 people left by Green card. Then, why is there this noise? What does the representations have to do with this?” added the Ambassador to the RF.
