Today during a press conference the director of Puppet theater, professor Ruben Babayan announced that he doesn’t understand the ado around selling the building of foreign ministry. “The building isn’t taken away; the ministry just will have another building. I would prefer that state bodies moved away from the center. This is a capital and its center must be cultural. Instead of miniseries there must be galleries, theaters”
What refers to turning the building into a hotel, Babayan thinks it will not assist the improvement of tourism in the country. “I am sure that the hotel will just replenish the rank of expensive hotels of the country. The hotels in the center of New York are quite cheap, because people understand that they are supposed to serve people of all layers. But if I were to choose hotel or ministry, I would choose a hotel.”
According to the professor we would have grounds to worry if they planned to change the appearance of the building.”- concluded Babayan.
Another member of the conference specialist of memorials Samvel Karapetyan agreed with Ruben Babayan adding. “Our country really needs hotels, but I am sure it will be one of the most expensive ones. When we travel around Turkey, Iran we come to face no problem of hotels as there are many for people belonging to different social layers. It is interesting what a tourist will think when being in the Republic square he asks what for is this building?- a hotel, and this one? – Again hotel. Will they think that we are a hospitable country?”
