Garnik Nanagulyan, former RA Minister of Trade and Industry, current president of “Armenian Aid” foundation, today had an interview with journalists and talked about the foundation’s activities and country’s situation. The journalists asked Nanagulyan to talk about “Armenian Aid” foundation’s activities. “At this current moment our foundation’s total annual turnover is 4.5-5 million dollars. I should stress that in the past it reached even up to 40 million dollars. Our aim is not to deliver the money. We are trying to work personally with people. For example we work with children who are now in orphanages. As all of you know they don’t have a life experience, they can’t get in touch easily with people, se we must prepare them from the ages of 14 or 15. So they will have about 3 years before getting out of the orphanage. If there are talented children, or those who want to study, we support them with money, we pay for their institute. At this moment we work with 70 children, aged from 18-23. ” said Nanagulyan.
To the question what is the aim of the foundation? He responded:
“The aim of our foundation is to develop our country, with the help of our generation. When the Soviet Union broke down, I was sure that after 4 or 5 years we will have a normal country, but now I’m sure that Armenia will become a normal country after 2 or 3 generations. ”
The journalist also asked Nanagulyan to talk about the source of their money.
“We get the money from organizations like USID, UNISEF, UNDP and other international organizations. We also have sponsors like Gevorg Hovnanyan, Markian’s family , etc.
There are also people who know about the activities which our foundation holds, and annually they donate money to our foundation.”
