Georgian media reports that David Gamkrelidze, head of the Georgian New Rights Party, made an official statement that he leaves post and quits politics.
“I leave the post of party chairman and quit active politics. Thanks to all who have fought with me for a better future of the country over 12 years and to the friends with whom I went through a difficult path of the struggle. New Rights will have what to say. From today I will no longer make a political statement and it is my last public statement as a politician,” said Gamkrelidze, adding “Secretary of the New Rights Party, Revaz Sokhadze, will act as the party leader, and in the next few days a new chairman will be announced.”
