In the interview with Vesti.az on the occasion of Russian former Defense Minister Pavel Grachev’s death, the former Defense Minister Rahim Gaziev confessed that Russia itself helped Azerbaijan to occupy Shahumyan and Martakert in 1992.
“Due to good relations between Grachev and me we got more that was planned in the distribution of the wealth of Soviet army. We mustn’t forget about Martakert operation.
Armenians were quite pressed there. The order of helping us was done by Grachev himself. By that time we freed 52% of Nagrono Karabakh. This was done by the help of Russian forces.”
We remind that such “liberation” resulted in the complete deportation and only due to Armenian soldiers we could avoid the second Genocide in Karabakh.
Actually Azerbaijani former minister denies the legend that Russian side helped Armenians.
