Russian REGNUM news agency recalls that Mikheil Saakashvilli, president of Georgia, had visited U.S. where he attended the 67th session of the UN General Assembly, held in New York and during his visit he had met with many high officials.
As reported, Mikheil Saakashvili met with the President of European Council, Herman Van Rompey, and the presidents of Poland and the Dominican Republic.
The source reports that the meeting focused on the ongoing reforms in Georgia and the upcoming parliamentary elections.
According to Mikheil Saakashvili, the European partners have expressed support for the current policy of the Government of Georgia and wanted to continue and deepen cooperation with Georgia.
During the meeting Saakashvili also talked about Russia-Georgia relations and said that “Russia by all means is trying to make different countries recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia” said Saakashvili and added “we didn’t let them do it,we are not going to give up and we won’t let Russia reach its goal”.
