In the interview with 168.am the governor of Vayoc Dzor region, ARP (Armenian Republican Party) member Edgar Ghazaryan commented on the failure of the incumbent mayor of Eghegnadzor town to PAP (Prosperous Armenia) member Davit Harutyunyan, said: “There were elections, one candidate got more votes. What else can be said?”
To the question of the mass media about any extraordinary case, the ARP governor answered: “ No extraordinary incident. There were normal elections. We had organized elections according to all the rules of democracy.” Answering to the remark that the motive of the doubt are the talks that the incumbent ARP mayor could have presented self-renouncement under the pressures of PAP, the governor noted that he hadn’t heard of something like that. Ghazaryan’s notice is remarkable as it was clear that elections in that region haven’t passed so smoothly as thought: it was reported by the press service of the Police that the former governor of Vayoc Dzor region and his son have tried to illegally take away ballots.
