Roland Kobia, head of the EU office in Baku, at the international conference titled «Media environment in Azerbaijan: existing situation and new challenges” held in Baku, announced that for the EU the freedom of media is a core value and it condemns all restrictions of media not only in other countries but also in Europe and added that Azerbaijan demonstrates positive actions in media freedom.
He stressed that Azerbaijan will host an important internet governance forum in November and added that this forum will be an opportunity for Azerbaijan to demonstrate the development of the city, as well as the country’s real ambitions.
As reported, European Commission Vice-President responsible for the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, is scheduled to attend the Internet Governance Forum, to be held in November in Baku. The forum will discuss internet regulation, the existing state of internet media and its prospects.
