A delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe calls on political parties to actively participate in democracy of Armenia.
“On implementation of this election according to international standards, we express our gratification with the absence of involvement of political parties in the moderate level of local government,” said the head of the observer mission of the CE Henry Feral.
After the Local elections on September 9 and 23 the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of CE noted the seriousness and participation of the electoral process. However, the delegation noted with regret that the political parties’ participation was poor. The Congress calls on the civil society to have a more active involvement.
Congressional delegation consisted of 14 members, who met with members of parliament, government, political parties and representatives of the international community, as well as non-governmental organizations and media representatives.
