On September 22nd the president of Georgia Mikheil Sahakashvili visited Samerglo region, REGNUM News agency reports, where a town-harbor is to be built, which will be the biggest in Black sea-coast and will resemble Dubai. Later on he visited Batumi where he opened a new American Technological University which according to his words is unique in Eastern Europe. Talking about the tortures in Gldan prison, he announced that Georgia will surely come out of the negative past, the proof of which everybody saw some days ago. He said that such things occurred in Europe and America as well, but the reaction of Georgia went even further showing that it doesn’t want to return to the past.
The president of Georgia promised that the guilty will be punished by all means, but those promoting this evil will be punished by Georgians in the elections. According to his information the authors of this plan wanted to publish the video not on September 17th but on September 24 for the authorities not to have time to react, they thought that it’s time to take revenge, to bring everything back. ‘We know that scheme and will inform everybody about it.”- said Sahakashvili. At meantime in Zugudidi, Samerglo region, one of the largest mass protests of Bidzina Ivanishvili’s “Georgian Dream” party was taking place.
Earlier on September 18th, Georgian society learnt about the tortures in Gldan prison. The police accused the convict of the Prison Tamaz Tamazashvili and the former convict and businessman Tamaz Elizbarashvili. But journalist Irma Inashvili announced that the video was given to her by a young man who said he was acting by the order of the former chief Police and incumbent PM Vano Merabishvili. The journalist gave the video to the international organizations, who were shocked at what was shot. Afterwards, during several days there were mass protests in Georgia.
The Parliamentarian elections in Georgia are dated to October 1st, 2012.
