Georgian Interior Ministry published a statement, according to which, Georgian Interior Minister, Bachan (Bacho) Akhalaia, submitted his resignation to the President of Georgia.
Note, Akhalaia served as Head of the Department of Corrections of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia from 2005 to 2008.
Protest actions took place around Georgia starting September 18 due to prisoner torture incidents, which were shown by opposition channels.
