The leader of the opposition party “Musavat” Isa Gambar, returning from Turkey, organized discussions with members of the Coordinating Council of the Public Chamber, who resigned in protest against the signed a memorandum of Ramil Safarov. On September 21 extraordinary meeting of the COP will be held, where the parties will try to reach a consensus again.
Discussions continued for several hours, and finally, for the first time in the practice of the COP, it was unable to avoid a split position and reach a negotiated solution on the basis of consensus. Panah Huseyn, Zafar Guliyev and others insist on the abolition of the recent decision of the COP of the Public Chamber, which supported arrangements of the opposition parties with the government.
By means of voting, 8 people out of the present 11 members expressed their full support to the leaders Musavat and Popular Front in their decision to participate in the initiative of the ruling party and three members – chairman Panah Huseyn, Zafar Guliyev and Kochari Nagibeyli voted against, expressing their disagreement with the decision and announced their resignation from the Coordinating Council of the Public Chamber.
Recall that on September 15 the government and opposition parties of Azerbaijan signed a joint letter to the European Parliament on the resolution condemning the extradition and further pardon of Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov. Azerbaijani political parties believe that the resolution of the European Parliament is biased and is the bright proof of double standards in the world.
