At an emergency meeting of the government the President of Georgia ordered to create of a new prison system in Georgia. According to him, in the beginning of the reforms in the penitentiary system a partial reform was implemented, but, as it turned out, the basic thing was just as nasty as it had been. The President instructed Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili to take control of the system.
“The situation is far more serious than it is in the competence of the main prosecution or MIA. We should completely repeal the prison system and create a new, updated one. It is a war of political mudslinging, but I care about it the least. The system must not fall into the hands of maniacs.”-noted Saakashvili.
The President instructed Merabishvili to put aside all other business and take the system under control.
