Georgian media reports that U.S Republican Congressmen issued an appeal to Georgia on upcoming elections.
As reported, the appeal was signed by the following persons: Jo Anne Emerson, Mike Ross, Ben Chandler and Mike Turner. The first 3 mentioned persons, Emerson, Turner and Chandler are members of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and Turner is the head of the delegation.
The appeal notes that “The entire world will observe the upcoming elections very attentively. Georgia’s future as well as its reputation in the international arena is at risk. These elections will be an important test of Georgian democracy.
When the Georgian people take part in the election and their votes would be properly counted and verified by the authorities and observer groups, we will call upon all political forces to respect the outcome, put the tensions aside and work together in peace, in order to support the country.
We support Georgian people who are against Russia, which wants to destroy the hardly-purchased democracy in Georgia”-was written in the appeal.
