Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry announced that Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Vladimir Dorokhin, was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and Deputy Foreign Minister Khalafov, received him.
According to the source, at the meeting Khalafov expressed a sharp protest against member of the State Council and the State Duma of Russia, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who participated in the protest and said to Armenians that Russia will supply Armenia with all the needed resources, and must recognize both NKR independence and Armenian Genocide.
The protest was held on September 14 and was permitted by the Moscow Mayor’s Office and organized by “Russian-Armenian Union”.
Khalafov also said that this “irresponsible” call cast a shadow on the existing cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries and expressed hope that Zhirinovsky’s statement will be “appropriately weighed” by Russian governmental structures.
In the end, Azerbaijan’s note of protest was handed over to Russian Ambassador.
