Georgia was elected to be the President of the Congress of European Constitutional Courts. According to the press service of Constitutional Court of Georgia, this decision was taken at a meeting of the President of COP Europe in Vienna.
By the decision of the COP President, in 2014, Georgia will be the Presidency of the Congress, taking race from Austria. Chairman of the Congress of Europe will be the head of COP Giorgi Papuashvili.
In the period from 2014 to 2017, all the important meetings of the Congress will be held in Batumi, where the COP of Georgia is located.
The Congress was formed in 1971 and over the past 20 years Georgia is the first country, which hasn’t been an EU member to chair this body uniting COP countries of Europe.
