Ecologist Karine Danielyan shared her alarm on the exploitation of natural resources being among the greatest problems of RA ecology during the meeting with journalists.
“Mining has become so extensive that, no one takes into account whether the district is a forest or a resort, like Hanqavan and Jermuk. The tailings dumps are in critical situation despite the fact that their right use can be really useful both for economy and ecology.”- she said.
Another ecologist Lilit Sahakyan noted that tailing dumps can be really used as potential mines in case they are used in a correct way. “The dumps need to undergo a monitoring, to be estimated according to risk level. This demands money.”- explained the ecologist noting that any tailing dump is risky category and needs to be controlled.
