“168 zham” had a meeting with Armenian Chess grandmaster Gabriel Sargsyan.
During the interview the journalist asked whether there is a political pressure on chess.
Sargsyan responded:
“I can’t deny that fact, yes, somewhat there is a politics in the chess. As a proof, I can bring Azerbaijan’s team example, they had a great political pressure on them, to show that they can win, to show that they are risky, but as a result you saw what happened, we won, since we didn’t have that pressure, we were doing our job”.
“168 zham” also met with the head of our Chess team, Arshak Petrosyan, on the same issue. Petrosyan responded:
“Yes there is politics in the game, taking into account the fact that we were playing in Turkey, the last game we won over Hungary, all these are factors which put pressure on the players, but our players are very experienced and they managed to win. ” said Petosyan and added :
“To tell the truth, Chess is one of the most difficult games in the world, in a match you are doing about 45 steps, and each step makes the player think a lot”.
