“We have no foreign policy doctrine as a state; we just act on an ad-hoc basis each time we see something is wrong” Chief of Armenian Democratic Party Aram Sargsyan stated this during his briefing with journalists. Sargsyan noted that European parliament was obliged to criticize what happened but that criticism would not change anything-“if EU would employ specific sanctions and take Safarov back to Hungary this would make a good lesson for everyone, still since such norms have no value in our world versus oil and gas we need not be naïve and need to take action to preserve our dignity instead”. Sargsyan noted that as it turned out neither Armenia’s security-intelligence services, nor the ministry of foreign affairs took any step to prevent Safarov’s extradition. “Azerbaijan is while now in full comfort. Thus the negotiation process must be halted till the moment Azerbaijan’s brings pardon for its deeds. Furthermore, there is no sense for negotiations politically. Cirrently we have no right to recognize Nagorbno-Karabakh for several reasons: first is the December 1 decision on reunion, second we have not recognized legal Nagorno-karabakh’s separation from Azerbaijan and since we have not done that Aliyev and the world think that talks about territorial integrity involve Nagorno-Karabakh under Azerbaijan as well.” Sargsyan concluded to be amazed at Armenia’s ministry of foreign affairs for not taking all these into consideration and implementing proper action.
