“News was spread in Bulgarian mass media that during the Bulgaria-Armenia match, our football players were named “gypsies” and that our Football Federation has accused Bulgarian sport-funs in racism. Nobody confirms this news in Armenia, but if such shouting really happened, it is surprising that a friend-state is so unaware of our anthropologic type.”- writes “Aravot” in the editorial and adds:
“But more interesting is that international institutions, including FIFA are too sensitive on such issues and very frequently punish those countries where funs express racist manifestations. For example, during the last Europe cup, Russian FF was fined not only for hooligan funs, but also for racist behavior.
It seems that such treatment is an excessive European “correctness”. But in reality it is a certain way of thinking, a system of values, which are sometimes violated by the Europeans themselves, whereas we, Armenians haven’t perceived it to the fullest. There are multiple of examples, like the elections of village head in Dzorakap, Shirak region, where as the villagers say, for the sake of being elected once more, the head of the village brought his relatives from Georgia to elect, who have never lived in that village, but were registered.
But those complaining against illegal affairs, are ready to punish those who are completely innocent. They threaten to exile all the Akhalkalak people living there for several years. Compare this with the picture in the world.
The Muslims were dissatisfied with an American film that presented September 11 under another light. And how they express their complaint? Bombing, detonating American diplomatic representations in different countries? The same logic.
For me proper, human values are more important, than nationality. I have no problem in getting in touch with the Azerbaijani. I have some problems with those, even Armenians, that think it is possible to justify a person having axed a sleeping person
