The mayor of Echmiadzin city, Karen Grigoryan, today had a meeting with journalists and announced that on October 7-9, “World Heritage Cities” organization will hold a meeting.
WHC is a Non-Profit Organization which was created in 1993, September 8, in Morocco.The WHC includes about 238 cities, which are under the UNESCO “Heritage cities” list.
The meeting of the organization is held once in 2 years.
Etchmiadzin city has become the member of the organization since 2009. Yerevan and Goris cities are also the members of the mentioned organization.
According to Grigoryan, Azerbaijani and Turkish sides were against the decision of WFC to give certificate to the Armenian city.
Note, some cities of Turkey and Baku (Azerbaijan) are also members of the organization.
