Robert Kocharyan’s (second president of Armenia) office spread the news concerning Alliyev’s statement, made on September 12.
Note, on September 12, Alliyev met with OSCE members in city Gabala and announced that in 2001, Armenian president pardoned Varoujan Garabedian an Armenian citizen, who was sentenced to life time imprisonment in France.
The office denied the news because of their being untrue.
Kocharyan’s office explains that Alliyev was actually talking about Varoujan Garapetyan, Lebanese citizen, who was pardoned by the France authorities and later was sent to Armenia, as an independent person.
The information about Varoujan Garabedian can be found in internet and can be compared with Alliyev’s statement.
So, we should stress that, in order to justify Safarov and Azerbaijani step, Alliyev deliberately distorts historical facts or doesn’t know the history very well.
