Translation The Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliev considers the international criticism towards Azerbaijan on Safarov’s affair not well–grounded. Yesterday Aliyec repeated that Safarov was repatriated according to European convention and was gifted pardon according to the country’s Constitution, REGNUM news agency writes.
“The Armenian lobby has raised ado in the world. They carry on a dirty campaign against Azerbaijan. The corrupted, fake senators, heads of international organizations and some politicians put forward inconsistent accusations.”
Aliyev also criticized the secretary general of European council Yangland Teubourn. “European council has accused Azerbaijan many times, they put pressures to release the convicts, and one of those released then killed a whole family. In the motherland of this person (meaning Norway) Breivik killed 80 people and was sentenced just to 21 years of imprisonment, 3 months for each victim. Why doesn’t he speak of this?”- said Aliyev.
The Azeri president pointed to the US senator Menendez’s words as well, calling him pro-Armenian, Islam phobic and anti-Azerbaijan figure.
In his another statement Aliev noted: “The inner problems of Armenia on my decree of pardon are the problems of the president of Armenia, not that of the region. It is enough to bring a historical fact, in 2001 the Armenian president pardoned a terrorist named Karapetyan, who detonated a bomb near French airport and 8 people were killed, there were 50 injured. At that time nobody reacted to this decision.”
Azeri leader mentioned that Nagorno Karabakh is a part of Azerbaiajan, explaining that it is populated by Armenians because during the conflict the Azerbaijani were cleared away from the region.
Azerbaijani mass media cite the words of Aliyev: “Azerbaijan will never recognize Nagorno Karabakh, so Armenia has better to accept the offer of OSCE Minsk Group made in 2009 according to which all the occupied territories must be returned to Azerbaijan. They must pass to work from words”- Aliyev announced.
