Russian regnum news agency reports that the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, at a joint news conference with Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan, talked upon the issues concerning free-visa regime between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
As reported, Ilham Aliyev promised to simplify the visa regime for certain categories of citizens of Turkey. During the conference the issue was discussed and the sides decided to gradually achieve this goal.
“Thus, for certain categories of people – businessmen, scientists and famous persons we will apply the special regime” said Alliyev and added “After ordering a set of internal procedures and mechanisms, Turkish citizens can enter Azerbaijan without a visa”.
We should recall that earlier it was reported that the resolution of the visa issue between Ankara and Baku hinders Iran.
As Turkish newspaper “Star” writes, even though Azerbaijan and Turkey wants to make a free-Visa regime between the countries, Iran is against the decision.
The reason why Iran is against, is the following;
Iran urged Azerbaijan that if it wants to make such deal with Turkey, then Azerbaijan must also do the same for the Iranian citizens; otherwise, Iran threatened Azerbaijan with closing the road, which leads to Nakhichevan.
Turkish side understood the demands, and now they are doing everything in order not to make Iran “angry”.
