Georgian recourses inform that today Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili and members of the U.S. interagency delegation led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Thomas Melia had a conversation over the situation prior to the parliamentary elections in Georgia.
According to the source they also discussed the eagerness of relevant structures for the parliamentary elections on October 1.The U.S. delegation, which includes representatives of the Agency for International Development, the Department of Defense and Department of Justice, arrived in Tbilisi on September 10.
A series of meetings will be held during which the delegation will persuade the Government of Georgia to accept all the rules of electoral law, and will urge the political parties to engage actively in this process.
