Today leader of the “Georgian Dream” Bidzina Ivanishvili declared that the U.S. is closely viewing the pre-election situation in Georgia.
After a meeting with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Melia he noted that the visit stresses great attention paid by the U.S. President Obama, Secretary of state Clinton to holding the democratic elections in Georgia.
“A delegation led by Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Melia is in Georgia. It promised us that it will do everything for democratic and fair elections in Georgia.” he said.
Georgian sources write that David Usupashvili and Manana Kobakhidze were present at the meeting. The new U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland guided the U.S. delegation.
Recall that parliamentary elections in Georgia will be held on Oct. 1.
