“With the respect to the U.S. – Azerbaijan cooperation relating to Iran, this is major security issue for Azerbaijan and we are working on and we are continuing working on the issues related to Iran” Richard Morningstar, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, as Azerbaijani sources note, stated this during his meeting with reporters. Morningstar addressed Congressmen Rohrabacher’s letter to Clinton concerning supporting independence of Iranian Azerbaijan, noting that official U.S. position is quite different and supports the recognized borders of Iran.
