Georgian media reports that Nino Kalandadze, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister, during the meeting with journalists announced that Georgia is ready to cooperate with Russia on a special operation in the Lopota gorge.
“We continue an open door policy towards the peoples of the Northern Caucasus. Nothing indicates that this relationship in some way is threatened with complication. As for the citizens of Russia, the Russian Federation hasn’t officially appealed to us, including through the Swiss Embassy. We are ready to cooperate” Kalandadze said.
Note, during a special operation in the gorge, Georgian special forces killed 11 militants and detained one. From the Georgian side three special forces soldiers were killed three and five wounded. Elimination was a forced action after the militants refused to lay down arms and surrender.
