The first international Wiki-conference started in Armenia, which is organized by the Universal Wikimedia Fund and Armenian Wiki society by the support of “ArmenTel” company (Beeline brand).
There are different reports included in the agenda of the conference referring to the development of education sphere, the development and replenishment of Wikipedia encyclopedia in Armenian, and to the employment of new “Wiki” tools and technologies. On the first day the discussions will be about the development of the content and language of Armenian Wikipedia and the availability of the encyclopedia at schools.
Member of Board of Trustees of Wikimedia Fund Tin Chen said that the Armenian branch of Wikipedia is actively developing. “Only during 2011 the number of articles in Armenian increased twice.” – he stressed.
“The first Wiki-conference is held in Armenia and it is a great chance for local experts and authors to get acquainted with the programs of the fund as well as gain international experience. By organizing the conference we had an aim to increase the number of activists, help to spread free-content articles and to support the establishment of knowledge-based society.” –mentioned the coordinator of Wikimedia programs in Armenia Susanna Mkrtchyan.
Representatives of Wikimedia from different countries arrived in Armenia including scientists, professors and other people interested in internet technologies.
