Ara Ayvazyan, Ambassador of Armenia to the Republic of Latvia, had an interview with “Joghovurd” newspaper.
The source informs that during the interview Ayvazyan touched upon the issue of Ramil Safarov’s extradition, and stressed that only Ambassadors and workers of Foreign Affairs shouldn’t be blamed for this situation.
According to Ayvazyan, they, the ambassadors, do their best in order to achieve an appropriate solution concerning the major issues. The journalist asked Ayvazyan what he thinks about the European policy towards the issue, since they still haven’t made any exact step.
To the question Ayvazyan answered that he can’t comment for other countries but mentioned that he had met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, and according to him, they had promised to deeply discuss the issue and give solution and raise the issue in international organizations and courts.
To the question that journalists don’t work properly,
Ayvazyan responded :
“I’m familiar with that kind of talks, but I assure you that the talks are exaggerated. We work as much as possible, we do our best to represent our country, to cooperate with other countries, to develop Armenia, but our job is thankless. Don’t condemn us, because we are working with few sources. All of you think that we are having a wonderful life, and we are just going to meetings, and that’s all, all other time we are free and with our family. No it is not like that. Like all other jobs, our job is very hard too, moreover, our job is very responsible, because you may make such mistake that, as a result all your nation can suffer because of it. So, one thing you should know for sure, that our job isn’t as easy as you imagine and it is not just about talking”, said Ayvazyan.
In the end the journalist concluded with this question:
“After Safarov’s extradition, our president, Serzh Sargsyan ordered all the ambassadors to do concrete steps and concrete jobs. What have you done till today? ”
Ayvazyan answered that he is in direct and permanent contact with the external departments and they have promised to give solution and inform him about their progress as often as possible.
