“The changes found in the law of “Specially Protected Natural Areas,” according to the environmentalists, have some shortcomings in some points. Today during the conference Arsen Gasparyan from Young Biologists Association NGO, said that the changes were made in such a way that some things are not obvious at first glance. “For example, according to the universal environmental laws hunting and fishing in State Reserves is strictly prohibited. Our law says that you can do it.”
Silva Adamyan from an environmental alliance said that we do not fully understand reserve, reserve park and national park concepts. “Reserves are generally prohibited from tourism and the construction of small houses is prohibited as well. There are three reserves in Armenia; Erebuni, Shikahogh and Khosrov where tourists can visit but Erebuni reserve is in a ragged condition.”
There are four types of wild wheat in Erebuni Reserve, which is important not only for Armenia but for the whole world, because they grow only here in Armenia.
