Georgian media reports that currently there are four contenders for the post of Prime Minister of Georgia, in the event of victory in parliamentary elections which will be held on October 1.
According to the source the most likely candidate for the post in the parliamentary elections is the current prime minister Vano Merabishvili, nominated by the ruling United National Movement. The main opposition force Georgian Dream nominated its leader, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, the influential Christian-Democratic Movement nominated its leader, Giorgi Targamadze and the New Right nominated its leader, David Gamkrelidze.
As reported, even though all candidates will receive an opportunity to participate in the debate on public broadcasting programs, however there is some non agreements among the candidates, for example, Ivanishvili doesn’t want to debate with Merabivshili, but with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
