Chinese state media have released details of talks between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump.
The Chinese leader called the meeting “historic and momentous,” noting that a “new positioning of constructive, strategic and stable relations” had been established between the two countries.
Xi stressed that while Trump seeks to “make America great again,” he is committed to realizing the “great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.”
According to a statement released by the Chinese side, Donald Trump described the visit as “very successful and unforgettable,” calling Xi Jinping “an old friend” for whom he has great respect. Trump also said he was looking forward to hosting the Chinese leader in Washington.
