During the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made a sensational statement, accusing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of directly participating in military operations against Iran.
Accusations and diplomatic tensions. According to Iranian state media, Araghchi noted that although he had not previously mentioned the UAE by name for reasons of unity, “the truth is that the Emirates were directly involved in the aggression against Iran.” According to the minister, when the attacks began, Abu Dhabi did not issue a single statement of condemnation.
Araghchi warned that neither American bases nor an alliance with Israel could provide security for the UAE. He called for a review of policy towards Tehran, emphasizing that peaceful coexistence in the region requires mutual understanding.
These statements by the Iranian side come against the background of information according to which, in early April, the UAE carried out military operations against Iran. The Wall Street Journal also confirmed this information.
In addition, Western and Iranian officials report that Saudi Arabia has also carried out numerous unprovoked strikes on Iran.
It should be recalled that the war against Iran began on February 28 with strikes by the United States and Israel, to which Tehran responded by targeting American bases located in the Persian Gulf countries.
Due to the strained relations between Iran and the UAE, the adoption of the final communique of the BRICS meeting in India has been called into question. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi noted that the presence of the Emirates has caused serious “communication problems” that prevent the issuance of a common statement.
