Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a high-level meeting in Beijing that he and US President Donald Trump are committed to maintaining the stability of bilateral relations.
The Chinese leader stressed that ties between Washington and Beijing are the most important bilateral relations in the world, and both sides bear responsibility for ensuring that they do not fail.
Xi stressed during the talks that cooperation is the only right path that benefits both countries, while confrontation will lead to mutual losses.
“Our countries should be partners, not competitors,” he said, adding that he had had a deep exchange of views with Trump on both bilateral relations and international and regional developments.
The Chinese leader described Trump’s visit as “historic” and drew parallels between the two countries’ domestic goals. According to him, the rebirth of the Chinese nation and the vision of “Make America Great Again” can be realized hand in hand.
Xi Jinping is convinced that the two superpowers can help each other achieve success, contributing to the well-being of the entire world.
