US President Donald Trump thanked the Chinese president for the reception he received.
Trump said he and Xi Jinping have long had a “great relationship” that has allowed them to overcome challenges, and promised them a bright future.
“Every time we’ve had a problem, we’ve solved it very quickly,” he said, adding that he respects China and the work Xi Jinping has done.
“You’re a great leader, I tell everyone that, you’re a great leader. Sometimes people don’t like it when I say it, but I say it anyway because it’s the truth.”
In his speech, Trump praised the delegation of American business leaders that he brought with him.
“On behalf of this entire wonderful delegation, I want to say that we have the greatest businessmen with us, the biggest and perhaps the best in the world,” Trump said.
He added, “They are here today to pay their respects to you and to China. And they are hoping for trade and business, and that will be fully reciprocal on our part.”
