US President Donald Trump’s visit to China has begun.
This is the first visit by an American leader to Beijing since 2017, when Trump visited the country again after winning the presidential election.
Trump has already met with Jinping.
After arriving in central Beijing, Trump and Xi Jinping watched a military parade and then entered the National People’s Congress, China’s parliament. Here, they made their first comments to reporters and began negotiations.
“We get along well; we have had difficulties, but we have overcome them. Some may not know about it, but if we have had problems, we have resolved them very quickly,” Trump said. “I have been calling you, and you have been calling me. I tell everyone that you are a great leader.”
In turn, Xi Jinping stated: “The whole world is watching our meeting.” “Now, changes are occurring faster around the world than have occurred in a century, and the international situation is constantly changing and remains turbulent.”
