Ukrainian forces have begun mass-deploying drones equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) that can independently identify and destroy targets deep behind Russian lines.
As Forbes reports, this new generation of drones, in particular the Hornet systems, allows them to strike at distances of 30 to 120 kilometers from the front line, paralyzing Russian troops’ logistics, ammunition depots, and fuel supply lines.
According to military experts, the Ukrainian side is switching from expensive missiles to affordable, high-tech solutions, allowing for a tenfold increase in strike intensity.
According to Forbes, AI technologies make drones resistant to electronic warfare, as they switch to full autonomous control after capturing a target.
This forces the Russian side to move the security zone farther into the rear, significantly slowing the pace of its offensive operations.
