Vahram Atanesyan, a former member of the Supreme Council of Armenia and a member of the National Assembly of the NKR, wrote on his Facebook page:
“In March 1997, Robert Kocharyan, who had been elected President of the NKR by popular vote four months earlier, resigned and was appointed Prime Minister of Armenia. By law, snap elections were to be held within 40 days, but in reality, they were held 6 months later. Why?
Arkady Ghukasyan, who was elected President, reappointed Leonard Petrosyan as Prime Minister. Nine months later, Leonard Petrosyan resigned and moved to Yerevan. Why?
Leonard Petrosyan was replaced as Prime Minister by Zhirayr Poghosyan. A year later, he was dismissed and moved to Yerevan. Anushavan Danielyan, who had moved to Yerevan from Crimea, was appointed Prime Minister of the NKR. Why?
In March 2000, an assassination attempt was made against the President of the NKR, Arkady Ghukasyan. Samvel Babayan, who had been dismissed from the post of Defense Army Commander a few months earlier, was arrested, then detained and tried. Four years later, he was pardoned, and Babayan moved to Yerevan. Why?
In the 2005 parliamentary elections, NA Speaker Oleg Yesayan did not participate and, after leaving office, moved to Yerevan. Why?
In 2007, Arkady Ghukasyan left his post and moved to Yerevan. Anushavan Danielyan also returned to Yerevan. Why?
After the 1996 presidential elections, a strong and, compared to the following ones, the most professional government was formed in the NKR: President Robert Kocharyan, Prime Minister Leonard Petrosyan, Speaker of the National Assembly Oleg Yesayan, Defense Army Commander Samvel Babayan, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Arkady Ghukasyan.
Why did that team collapse? Whoever can answer these “whys” knows why our Artsakh is not ours.”
