US President Donald Trump is arriving in Beijing for an official visit, during which he is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. According to Reuters, the White House chief is taking the heads of major American companies to China, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, to achieve a greater “opening” of the Chinese market for US businesses.
One of the key goals of the visit is also to find solutions to complex issues, such as the ongoing war with Iran and the resulting economic pressure on the United States.
Before the presidential plane lands in Beijing, US chief negotiator Scott Besant has already begun discussions with Chinese officials in South Korea, aiming to preserve a fragile trade agreement reached last year.
According to Reuters, Trump is heading to this meeting in a difficult domestic political situation, as inflation caused by the Iran conflict and low ratings force him to record quick economic victories before the midterm elections in November.
The negotiations will also include restrictions on the sale of high-tech chips, the issue of arms supplies to Taiwan, and opportunities to reduce the bilateral trade deficit.
