The Chinese company Unitree Robotics has introduced the world’s first human-controlled robot-transformer, the GD01 model, which is already ready for mass production. The new robot is a real “iron giant”: its height is more than twice that of a person. It can move on both two- and four-limbed forms, changing its shape and mode of movement. Inside the robot is a special cabin, where a person can sit and control the system.
The company’s video shows that Wang Xingxing, the founder and CEO of Unitree Robotics, was inside. The robot can change its position, moving from vertical to horizontal and vice versa, and can move on four “legs” like an animal. The robot weighs about 500 kg with a person on board. The video demonstrates its strength, knocking down a wall made of building blocks with one blow. This innovation is considered one of the first steps towards the real application of large human-controlled robots.
