Elon Musk, Apple’s Tim Cook, GE Aerospace’s Larry Culp, and Boeing’s Kelly Ortberg will join US President Donald Trump on his visit to China this week, a White House official told Reuters.
The delegation will also include Meta’s Dina Powell McCormick, BlackRock’s Larry Fink, Blackstone’s Stephen Schwarzman, Micron’s Sanjay Mehrotra, Mastercard’s Michael Mibach, Qualcomm’s Cristiano Amon, and Visa’s Ryan McInerney, the official said. The White House also invited Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins, but he was unable to attend because the company’s earnings report is due this week.
As Reuters previously reported, the US and China are expected to agree on creating platforms to boost bilateral trade and investment. China is also expected to announce purchases of Boeing aircraft, American agricultural products, and energy. Major business deals and purchases are often announced during U.S.-China summits.
Also participating in the visit will be Cargill’s Brian Sykes, Coherent’s Jim Anderson, and Illumina’s Jacob Theisen.
The two countries will also discuss extending a “ceasefire” in the trade war that allows rare earth metals to flow from China to the United States. However, it is not yet clear whether that agreement will be extended this week.
