A new study by the streaming platform Spotify has revealed the most-streamed hits in Eurovision history and the winning formula as the 70th anniversary contest kicks off. According to the report, the absolute leader of the contest is the song Arcade by Dutch singer Duncan Laurence, which has more than 1.5 billion streams. In honorable second place is the hit Snap by Armenian singer Rosa Lynn, which has also crossed the 1 billion mark, despite taking 20th place in the 2022 contest.
Spotify data proves that the contest is a powerful springboard for global stars. The most-streamed artist of all time is the legendary group ABBA (12.5 billion streams), followed by Måneskin (9 billion) and Celine Dion (7 billion). Interestingly, songs that did not win the contest often become the audience’s favorites and go viral on social networks. For example, the Portuguese Deslocado became the most listened to track of 2025, taking only 21st place in the final.
Analyzing the technical data of the winning songs, experts noticed certain patterns: to achieve success, the song must be emotional yet energetic, with a tempo of about 127 beats per minute (BPM). The key of F major and the time signature of 4/4 are considered ideal. The closest to these criteria is the composition “Hold Me Now” by the 1987 winner, Irishman Johnny Logan, which is considered the ideal entry of all time for Eurovision.
