US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Washington is waiting for an official response from Iran today on the proposal to end the war. Speaking to reporters in Rome, Rubio expressed hope that it will be a “serious proposal” that will allow the start of a real negotiation process.
The Secretary of State noted that internal problems and disorganization in the Iranian state system may slow down the response.
“We need to know something today. As of the last hour, we have not received it,” he noted.
At the same time, Rubio expressed serious concern about the information that Tehran is trying to create a special agency to control traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. In his words, such control over the Strait is “problematic and unacceptable” for the United States.
