The Colombian pop star has released the official song for the 2026 World Cup, Dai Dai. The 49-year-old singer, known for hits like “Whenever, Wherever” and “Hips Don’t Lie,” took to Instagram to share a teaser for a new song recorded at Brazil’s legendary Maracanã Stadium. The one-minute video features the first few lines of the song, with the full version set to be released on May 14.
Nigerian star Burna Boy joins Shakira on the new song. The song will be the main musical symbol of the World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada this summer. This is Shakira’s second official World Cup anthem. In 2010, she released the legendary song “Waka Waka” (This Time for Africa), which is still considered one of the most famous football anthems. For the 2014 World Cup, she also sang “La La La (Brazil 2014)” and performed at the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.
Interestingly, Shakira first became involved in football in 2006, when she performed “Hips Don’t Lie” at the tournament’s closing ceremony in Germany. The 2026 World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 and will feature 48 teams for the first time in history. Colombia will also participate in the tournament.
